Ignore the naysayers. “Passengers” proves there’s more to sci-fi films than redundant themes, inflated egos and increasingly deflated thrills—and the tandem of Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt, delightful as they’re dishy, are onboard Morten Tyldum’s starship Avalon in the sci-fi drama to invalidate the bashers’ innocuous yammering.
